Transferrin (TF) is the primary iron-containing protein in plasma, playing crucial roles in iron transport and metabolism, as well as regulating respiration, cell proliferation, and the immune system. It also exhibits antioxidant and antibacterial protective functions, making it widely applicable in cell culture. Transferrin exists in three forms: apo (not bound to iron ions), holo (bound to two iron ions), and partially saturated. This product is a recombinant human transferrin expressed and purified from Pichia yeast using gene recombination technology. It is free of animal-derived components and blood-borne viral infection risks, exhibiting high batch stability. This transferrin is in its holo form, serving not only as a carrier for iron but also as a source of iron for cells.
